Spring is coming soon and I’d like to share some information about parks in Lafayette Indiana. Maybe instead of the parks you would like to get on the trails in Lafayette. Enjoy this guide of Lafayette’s Parks and Trails. Get ready for picnics, fun and fresh air!
Murdock Park, 18th & Ferry Street
Located in the middle of the city, Murdock Park occupies 39 acres. A .52 mile trail is featured to allow visitors to identify almost 40 varieties of trees within the park. This park also has, multi-age playground, 18 hole disc golf course, Brian Cardinal basketball court, youth softball field, grills, restrooms, and picnic areas. If you would like to host a crowd there are picnic shelters to rent as well.
Shamrock Park and Dog Park, Wabash Avenue
The first dog park in Lafayette, that sits on 11 acres. However, this park is not just for the dogs! Multi age playgrounds, roller hockey rink, basketball courts, grills and a picnic area are also available. A boat ramp provides access to the river where fishing is permitted.
Munger Park, 3505 Greenbush Street
In the northeast area of Lafayette you will find Munger Park, which sits on 32 acres. Here you can enjoy a pond, paved trail, playground, grills, open spaces, wildflower areas and restrooms. Fishing is allowed at this park.
McCaw Park is seated on 26 acres and located on the East Side of Lafayette. McCaw Park features 12 pickleball courts, playgrounds, restrooms, picnic shelters, grill, youth baseball fields and open green spaces.
Located in West Lafayette Prophetstown State Park has so much to offer year round. There are several events hosted in 1920’s style Farm At Prophetstown, 900 acres of restored prairie to explore, biking trails, camping and even an aquatic center!
Armstrong Park, 9th Street & Beck Lane
Many walkers enjoy this park because of the paved trail that surrounds the pond. This park has multi age playgrounds, five lighted tennis courts, lighted basketball courts, youth baseball fields, restrooms and Castaway Bay.
This park contains 8 soccer fields located just South of the Caterpillar facility. Restrooms, basketball court, playground, picnic shelters, recreational softball field, trails and a concession facility are also available here.
Entrances and parking on East Greenbush St. and Union St.
This one mile paved trail is located in Munger Park. The trail follows the pond in open spaces. Great way to get some fresh air and sunshine.
North 9th Street trail and loop. This trail has parking, sheltered picnic tables and drinking fountains. On the trail you will find a 5 acre native prairie.
This trail runs along the Wabash River and is currently 13 miles. This trail will follow along the entire Wabash River upon completion. This trail is paved, asphalt and mulch.
This trail goes through Columbian Park. It is about 1 mile, paved and visitors can see all of what Columbian Park has to offer.
Crosser Sports Complex -Coming Soon!
The next park to come to Lafayette will be on Lafayette’s South Side. The Crosser Sports Complex will sit on 15 acres and become home to the Lafayette’s Girls Softball League. This park will feature 4 competition-sized, lighted girls’ softball fields, a restroom/concession/press box building, and parking.
